AM General has chosen Plasan North America to supply major components of the armored cab for the Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) in a $300 million deal. Plasan's U.S.-based branch was already supplying smaller subcomponents to Oshkosh Defense, the previous JLTV-maker. The contract covers the production of 20,682 JLTVs and 9,833 trailers for the U.S. military and foreign customers. Plasan plans to hire an additional 170 employees over the next 18 months to meet the increased demand. The company has already invested in research and development projects, including the All-Terrain Electric Mission Module (ATeMM), which provides power to vehicles and acts as a mobile charging station for wearable batteries.
