The German Federal Cabinet has approved a new reform for the Advisory Commission for Nazi-looted art, which includes the establishment of an arbitration court. The reform allows one side to unilaterally appeal the commission without mediation. The Advisory Commission will be able to involve itself in cases without an agreement between the two sides. The reform also enables the commission to commission contracts for research into art, ensuring transparency. The reforms aim to better meet the demands of the 1998 Washington Conference Principles on Nazi-Confiscated Art.
