The BBC has published a detailed analysis questioning the IDF's claims of giving advance warning and avoiding mistakes in attacks on humanitarian zones in Gaza. The report states that more than 550 Palestinians have been killed in humanitarian zones in 97 separate strikes since May 6, 2024. The IDF has only acknowledged air strikes in 28 of the cases and does not have data on specific attacks in humanitarian zones. The Jerusalem Post conducted its own count of IDF public messages and found 77 attacks on civilian locations used by Hamas or Islamic Jihad between late June and mid-January. The IDF has not disputed the numbers and conclusions of media reports accusing it of war crimes.
