Israeli politicians from the Religious Zionist Party are considering leaving the government over a Gaza hostage deal. Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich stated that a condition for remaining in government is a return to war with great force until victory over Hamas and the return of hostages. Smotrich did not receive the assurances he demanded from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir also criticized the deal but has not announced leaving the government. Despite the potential departure of these politicians, the deal can still be implemented.
