Israel's cabinet has approved a Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal, following the finalisation of details by the prime minister's office and Hamas. The agreement will see the exchange of 33 Israeli hostages held by Hamas for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. The first phase of the deal will last six weeks and will involve the withdrawal of Israeli forces from densely populated areas of Gaza, the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes, and the entry of aid lorries into the territory. Negotiations for the second phase, which includes the release of remaining hostages and a full Israeli troop withdrawal, will begin on the 16th day.
