Serving as FBI Director for the past seven-plus years has given me an unparalleled view of the threats to our country's public safety and national security. Our adversaries are more dangerous and complex than ever before, with the ability to shut down hospitals, plan attacks on U.S. soil, and manufacture deadly drugs. Terrorism threats are elevated, and foreign adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran are targeting the American people directly. Violent crime, including drug trafficking and child predation, still plagues many communities. The FBI and its partners have made significant progress in tackling these threats, but the challenges ahead require continued focus, resources, and public support.
