A special effects film technician, Gary Robert Hill, has been jailed for five and a half years after staging a bank heist at the Arab National Bank in Mayfair, London. Hill stormed into the bank armed with an imitation firearm and stun grenades, causing a two-hour stand-off before being arrested by police. Hill had been forced out of his job due to severe tinnitus, which affected his ability to work and caused financial hardship. He decided to rob the bank to obtain money, as he was unable to commit suicide.
