Hamas is expected to name the next Israeli hostages set to be released, including the Bibas family, as part of a ceasefire deal reached after months of negotiations. The prisoners to be released are of a more serious category, including those who have killed and are serving long sentences. The ceasefire is meant to lead to a permanent end to the war in Gaza, and will be implemented in three stages. Ninety-one hostages taken on 7 October 2023 are still held in Gaza, with 57 assumed to be alive.
