Sir Nicholas Winton, a hero of the Holocaust, rescued 669 predominantly Jewish children from the Nazis in 1939. His efforts became widely known when a BBC television show surprised him in 1988 by introducing him to the rescued children, who were now adults. He was knighted in 2003 and passed away in 2015 at the age of 106.
