The Judicial Selection Committee has appointed Yitzhak Amit as the permanent Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. This comes after a series of delays since the retirement of the previous court president, Esther Hayut. Justice Minister Yariv Levin and other committee members boycotted the discussion. Despite their absence, Amit, the most senior judge on the Supreme Court, was elected to the position.
