New US regulations will require Israeli autotech companies to disclose their ties to China as a condition for participating in future supply contracts with Western vehicle manufacturers. The regulations aim to prevent the import of 'smart' vehicles and vehicle components produced in China due to national security concerns. The prohibition will apply to software and hardware components directly manufactured in China, as well as those developed by companies controlled by Chinese companies or with material Chinese investment. Israeli auto-tech companies have already received enquiries from Western manufacturers asking them to disclose their 'Chinese connections'. Meanwhile, Israeli government agencies are working to regulate the cyber protection of vehicles in Israel to address security loopholes and protect sensitive information and infrastructure.
