Israeli tour package group Kavei Hufsha is planning to establish a new Israeli airline that will focus on short-haul flights to destinations within four to five hours of Israel. The process of establishing the airline is complex and will take at least 18 months, with licensing procedures likely to take six months. Kavei Hufsha currently owns Greek airline Blue Bird and Cypriot airline TUS, but these airlines are restricted to operating flights from Israel to Europe only. The new airline would consider the possible expansion of the Abraham Accords and the day when Israelis would be allowed to fly to Saudi Arabia. Market sources are skeptical about the feasibility of an airline focusing on nearby destinations outside the EU, as the possible destinations for short-haul flights from Israel are limited.
