Notorious terrorist Zakaria Zubeidi, a former commander of the Fatah-aligned Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades in Jenin, was among 110 prisoners released as part of Israel's ceasefire agreement with Hamas. Zubeidi, responsible for multiple terrorist attacks and the deaths of Israelis, had briefly escaped from Gilboa Prison in 2021 before being recaptured. The release of the prisoners was delayed due to concerns about the treatment of released hostages in Gaza. Hamas protested the delay, and Israel stated that lessons would be learned to ensure the safe return of future hostages. Zubeidi, who had been serving time for various offenses, including murder and membership in a terror organization, will be transferred to the West Bank.
