Donations to UNRWA USA have surged since the start of the war in Gaza, despite the US government cutting off funding for UNRWA and accusations from Israel that it supports Hamas. Supporters of Israel have also seen a surge in donations for rehabilitation and reconstruction. UNRWA USA has received donations from 139,000 people since October 2023, a huge increase from its previous donor base of 7,000 people. The nonprofit raised $32 million in 2023 and expects to raise over $51 million in 2024. The US had been the largest funder of UNRWA, sending $422 million in 2023 and $343 million in 2022.
