The University of Michigan has suspended a pro-Palestinian group for two years and revoked its funding following protests demanding divestiture from companies doing business with Israel. The group, Students Allied for Freedom and Equality (SAFE), was accused of violating the university's standards of conduct for recognized student organizations. The suspension could be lifted earlier if the group satisfies all sanctions and meets with school officials, but not before winter 2026. The university stated that protests are welcome as long as they do not infringe on the rights of others or disrupt university events.
