Middle East latest: Hamas hands 2 hostages over to Red Cross

Hamas has handed over two hostages to the Red Cross as part of its ceasefire deal with Israel. The hostages released were Yarden Bibas and French-Israeli Ofer Kalderon, who were abducted during the Hamas-led attack on Israel in 2023. Another hostage, American-Israeli Keith Siegel, is also set to be released. The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas calls for the release of 33 hostages and nearly 2,000 prisoners, as well as the return of Palestinians to northern Gaza and increased humanitarian aid. Negotiations for the second phase of the ceasefire are set to begin next week, with the war potentially resuming in early March if an agreement is not reached.
