The Rafah crossing between Gaza and Egypt has reopened, allowing sick and wounded Palestinians to leave for medical treatment. The reopening is part of a ceasefire and hostage deal between Hamas and Israel. Evacuees, including children on stretchers, were seen arriving at the border crossing. Many of those leaving Gaza require treatment for chronic diseases or injuries sustained during conflict. The World Health Organization estimates that around 14,000 people in Gaza need access to treatment they cannot receive locally, with approximately 5,000 of them being children.
