Israel Railways CEO, Moshe Jana, announced plans to double the amount of tracks by 2040, with a goal of having 2,600 kilometers of track. The railway expansion is part of a five-year plan that aims to increase passenger numbers to 105 million by 2030 and 300 million by 2040. Jana also addressed criticism of the limited train service in the Western Negev, stating that there will be two trains per hour during rush hours once the region is electrified in August. However, he expressed concern about the decision to invest only in existing infrastructure, stating that infrastructure development is crucial for the future of the railway.
