The Palestinian envoy to the United Nations called for world leaders to respect the wishes of Palestinians to remain in Gaza, after US President Donald Trump suggested they should be resettled elsewhere. The UN says that 90% of Gaza's population, or over 1.9 million people, have been displaced by Israel's offensive. Trump's comments came during a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he proposed a solution that would see Palestinians resettled in a 'beautiful area' with 'nice homes'. The war in Gaza began after an attack by Palestinian armed group Hamas, resulting in the deaths of over 1,200 people on the Israeli side and over 47,500 in Gaza.
