A man has been accused of spray painting anti-Semitic graffiti on the home of a well-known Jewish family before assaulting a passerby who tried to intervene. The Star of David has been used historically by Jews to represent their identity but during the Nazi regime it was also used to mark Jewish people on their clothes or shopfronts.
