Israel's defence minister has instructed the military to prepare a plan for Palestinians in Gaza to leave the territory, in line with President Trump's proposal for the US to take over and resettle them. Israel Katz stated that Gazans should have freedom of movement and migration, and that countries critical of Israel should take them in. The US secretary of state clarified that the resettlement would be temporary, despite Trump's statement that it would be permanent. Palestinian leaders and Arab states have rejected the plan, arguing that forced displacement would violate international law.
