President Trump has signed an order sanctioning the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing the court of undermining Israel's right to self-defense and ignoring Iran and anti-Israel groups. The US is not a member of the ICC and has rejected its jurisdiction over American officials or citizens. Trump has previously imposed sanctions on ICC officials investigating US war crimes in Afghanistan. The ICC was founded in 2002 to investigate alleged atrocities and can only deal with crimes committed after July 2002. Neither the US nor Israel is party to the ICC's Rome Statute.
