Syrian Jews are hoping to revive their ancient heritage after the ouster of Bashar al-Assad, with a small number of Jews in Damascus and abroad holding a group prayer for the first time in more than three decades. The community, which has dwindled to just a handful of individuals, is trying to build bridges and expand ties with Syrian Jews abroad in order to restore places of worship and other properties. Despite the devastation caused by the war, community leader Bakhour Chamntoub expressed hope that Jews will return to their neighborhood and their people in Syria.
