The U.S. Marine Corps is considering a potential facility in Arkansas to build air defense missiles as part of its modernization plans. The facility would produce the Medium Range Intercept Capability system, which combines existing technology to defend against cruise missiles and other airborne threats. The system incorporates the Ground/Air Task Oriented Radar, the Common Aviation Command and Control System, and the Tamir intercept missile from Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. Rafael is partnering with RTX to build the missiles in the U.S. under the name Raytheon Rafael Systems. The facility would also serve as a second source of Tamir missiles for the Israel Missile Defense Organization.
