High street retailer Currys has discontinued staff name badges featuring the Palestinian flag after complaints that they created an 'intimidating' environment for Jewish customers. The badges were introduced to denote staff members who could speak Arabic, but after multiple complaints, Currys has decided to explore alternative options. The incidents included a customer feeling uncomfortable and being refused service, as well as another customer being rebuked and followed by a staff member. Advocacy group UK Lawyers for Israel highlighted that the flag has political connotations and could create a hostile atmosphere for Jewish and Israeli customers.
