Israel sends tanks into West Bank, tells troops to ready for...

Israel has sent tanks into the occupied West Bank for the first time in over 20 years as it prepares for an 'extended stay' to combat Palestinian militant groups in the area's refugee camps. Tens of thousands of Palestinians have already been displaced from their homes as the military cracks down on Iranian-backed groups including Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The move comes as a fragile ceasefire in Gaza faces new obstacles after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a halt to the release of Palestinian prisoners and detainees. The military has arrested 26 militants and confiscated weapons as it continues operations in the refugee camps.
