Arab-Israeli comedian Nidal Badarny was arrested by Israel Police after making jokes about hostages held by Hamas during his standup performances. The arrest came after several of Badarny's shows were canceled due to jokes about the October 7 Hamas attacks. Badarny's arrest was partially due to complaints filed against him by the CEO of the human rights organization Btsalmo. MK Ahmad Tibi condemned the arrest, stating that dark humor is allowed for Jewish singers but not for Arab comedians.
