Ketamine consumption in Belgium has increased significantly over the past decade, with researchers observing up to eleven times more residues of the drug. The study, conducted by the Toxicology Center of the University of Antwerp, found that ketamine use has risen in both urban and rural areas across the country. Wastewater analysis was used to monitor ketamine levels over time and in different regions. The research also revealed that ketamine use extends beyond festive circles, indicating a broader spread of the drug's consumption in the population. Ketamine use can lead to psychological dependence, cognitive disorders, and physical health issues such as bladder damage.
