Recent excavations at the Suyukou site in northwest China have revealed porcelain wares produced nearly 1,000 years ago during the Western Xia Dynasty, pre-dating the Yuan Dynasty. The excavations uncovered remnants of workshops and pits where workers mined raw materials for porcelain production. The white ceramics discovered at the site exhibit similar characteristics to those found in Jingdezhen, the renowned porcelain capital in east China. These findings show that China's porcelain 'dual formula' technology can be traced back to the earlier Western Xia Dynasty.
