Golden toilet suspect says he was collecting dog kennel, not spying

A man accused of burgling a £4.8 million golden toilet from Blenheim Palace has claimed in court that he was asked to collect a dog kennel, not carry out reconnaissance for the theft. Michael Jones, who is on trial along with two other men, denies a single charge of burglary. Prosecutors allege that his visits to the palace were to carry out reconnaissance, as he was in contact with one of the ringleaders and took pictures of the toilet on his phone. Jones insists that his visits were his own idea and that he had no knowledge of the burglary plot.
