The first phase of Israel's ceasefire with Hamas has ended, and a new framework named after US Middle East negotiator Steve Witkoff has been introduced. The plan calls for a temporary ceasefire during Ramadan and Pesach, with the release of half of the living and deceased hostages on the first day. Israel's position is that Hamas must be dismantled before any discussion of ending the war can take place, while Hamas insists on retaining its armed capabilities. The US has signed an emergency declaration to expedite the delivery of military aid to Israel, and if Hamas rejects the new framework, Israel will resume the war with full US support.
