Actor Noel Clarke has started a libel case against The Guardian's publisher, Guardian News and Media (GNM), over a series of articles published in April 2021. The articles were based on the claims of 20 women who alleged sexual misconduct by Clarke. Clarke denies the allegations and is seeking damages for the damage to his reputation and lost work. The trial will focus on liability, not the amount of damages to be paid if Clarke is successful. It is expected to last between four and six weeks.
