14th-Century Saint Anthony mosaic found beneath Barcelona's streets

Archaeologists in Barcelona's Gothic Quarter have uncovered five 14th-century houses during urban redevelopment. Among the findings is a well-preserved polychrome tile featuring an image of Saint Anthony of Padua. The excavation has also revealed medieval and post-medieval structures, including wells, deposits, and sewage networks. The site may have housed one of the first documented museum collections in the Iberian Peninsula. The archaeological work will continue for another month and a half to complete the analysis.
