Recently released hostages have revealed alarming information about the conditions of American-Israeli hostage Edan Alexander's captivity. He is being held in an underground tunnel without air or sunlight, severely malnourished and underweight. The soldier, who was kidnapped in IDF uniform, has been treated much more harshly than civilian hostages, with severe interrogations and torture. Despite the difficult conditions, Alexander has shown mental strength and cared for his fellow captives. US envoy Steve Witkoff has stated that Alexander is a top priority for the US, both as an American and because he is known to be wounded.
