Thomas Gabriel Perera, an Indian national, was killed by Jordanian security forces while trying to illegally enter Israel in search of work. Perera was lured to Jordan for a job that did not materialize, and his family claims he was a victim of a job scam. Perera's brother-in-law, who was wounded in the attempt, paid over NIS 8,700 to an agent before leaving India. The family was unaware of the men's plans to enter Israel.
