Women can be key to achieving 'sustainable peace´, says Swinney

Scotland's First Minister, John Swinney, emphasized the importance of women's involvement in conflict resolution for achieving sustainable peace. The Scottish Government will continue to support the Women in Conflict 1325 Fellowship program, which has trained over 360 women peace-builders from conflict-affected countries since 2017. Swinney stated that when women are involved in peace processes, the outcomes are fairer and longer lasting. The program is part of a new £400,000 initiative to support peace-building organizations in Scotland. The announcement was made on International Women's Day, reaffirming Scotland's commitment to international peace-building and women's central role in the process.
