29,000-year-old child 'Pangpond' changes Thailand's prehistory

Archaeologists in Thailand have discovered the oldest human skeleton ever found in the country, a 29,000-year-old child nicknamed Pangpond. The skeleton was found in a cave at the Tham Din archaeological site within Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park, known for its prehistoric rock art. The child was buried with care and surrounded by stones, suggesting a ritualistic burial. The discovery provides new insights into the cultural practices of prehistoric hunter-gatherers and pushes back the timeline of human presence in the region.
