Syria's military has completed its operation against loyalists of former President Bashar al-Assad, according to the defense ministry. Clashes between Assad loyalists and the country's new Islamist rulers have resulted in over 1,000 deaths, mostly civilians. The defense ministry spokesperson stated that public institutions can now resume their work and provide essential services. Plans are in place to continue combating the remnants of the former government and eliminate any future threats. An independent committee will be formed to investigate the clashes and killings carried out by both sides.
