Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) has approached chip designers Nvidia, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and Broadcom about a joint venture to operate Intel's factories. TSMC would run the operations of Intel's foundry division, but would not own more than 50% of the venture. Qualcomm has also been pitched by TSMC. Talks are at an early stage and any deal would require approval from the Trump administration. TSMC's joint venture pitch was made before the company announced its $100bn investment in the US on 3 March.
