Syria interim president seeks pressure on Israel to withdraw from

Syria's interim President Ahmed Al-Sharaa called on the international community to pressure Israel to withdraw its troops from the south, as he attended his first Arab summit since assuming office. Sharaa stated that Israel's presence in southern Syria is a violation of Syrian sovereignty and a threat to regional security and peace. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded the demilitarization of southern Syria and stated that his country would not accept the new Syrian authorities in the area. Sharaa also met with senior officials, including United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, to discuss the future of Syria and the challenges it faces.
