China is building landing barges that could potentially be used for a full-scale invasion of Taiwan, according to defence analysts. These barges, which have been in development since 2022, have recently been observed at Guangzhou. Each barge is equipped with a 400ft road that can extend onto a beach or coastal road for easy access. The Chinese navy's amphibious flotilla currently has the capacity to transfer up to 6,000 soldiers in a single movement, but analysts suggest that around two million troops may be needed for a successful invasion of Taiwan.
