Major step in hunt for Russian hitmen who shot banker in Canary Wharf

The case of a Russian banker who was shot in London in 2012 may be closer to being solved after the only man to face charges was put on Interpol's most wanted list. German Gorbuntsov, known as the 'Black Banker', was shot several times outside his apartment building in Canary Wharf. The gunman has never been found, but charges were filed against Moldovan politician Vladimir Plahotniuc for allegedly organizing the plot. Last month, Interpol placed Plahotniuc on the wanted list over an arrest warrant issued in Moldova for alleged money laundering. The shooting is part of greater scrutiny on high-profile Russians in London and those with links to the Russian state.
