French Jewish group reserved over far-right leaders' Israel visit

France's main Jewish association is distancing itself from the invitation of two key figures in the French far right to attend a conference in Israel on the fight against anti-Semitism. The invitation was extended to Jordan Bardella, leader of the National Rally (RN), and Marion Marechal, leader of another far-right movement and the niece of Marine Le Pen. The Representative Council of French Jewish Institutions (CRIF) stated that the invitation came from Israel and does not involve the Jewish institutions of France. The CRIF emphasized the need for critical distance towards the RN and expressed concerns about the exploitation of the fight against anti-Semitism for political gain.
