Rabbi Shay Tahan provides halachic guidelines and practical considerations for observing Pesach in a hotel. He explains that one who sells their house to a non-Jew for the holiday is exempt from cleaning and checking for chametz. The mitzvah of Bedikat Chametz can be fulfilled in the rented room or in one unsold room of the house. It is suggested to perform Bedikat Chametz in the car with a lamp or phone light. If one sets out on a journey before Bedikat Chametz, they should thoroughly clean their home and perform the mitzvah without a bracha. In a hotel, it is recommended to leave luggage outside the room for Bedikat Chametz and use a candle for the blessing. The hotel room should be thoroughly inspected, and non-kosher items should be closed in a drawer or marked as belonging to a non-Jew. Jewish-owned hotels are responsible for inspecting all areas except rented rooms. It is important to sell chametz through a rabbi before departure, but if forgotten, a rabbi can be appointed over the phone or chametz can be sold through a reliable website.
