The Knesset has passed the Judicial Selection Law, which gives politicians more control over judicial appointments. The law excludes members of the Israel Bar Association from the selection committee and allows for political appointees to make up the majority of the committee. The law has been met with opposition and a petition has been filed to the Supreme Court claiming that it will harm the independence of judges.
