A Tufts University graduate student, Rumeysa Ozturk, who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Massachusetts, is now being held in Louisiana. Ozturk, originally from Turkey, was detained for allegedly engaging in activities in support of Hamas. The arrest has drawn criticism from university President Sunil Kumar and Massachusetts Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell. Ozturk's legal team has stated that she had a valid F-1 visa status prior to her arrest and is demanding her release.
