Fresh twist in case of Tufts student seized by ICE

A Turkish student detained by ICE agents and taken to a detention center in Louisiana has had her visa revoked. Rumeysa Ozturk, a graduate student at Tufts University, is at the center of a deportation challenge over claims she was a Hamas supporter. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Ozturk's visa had been revoked, while a federal judge ruled that she cannot be deported yet. The arrest footage sparked backlash as Ozturk was surrounded by six undercover ICE agents and taken into custody. Ozturk was targeted by ICE over an op-ed piece she co-authored for student outlet The Tufts Daily, where she criticized the university's response to its community union Senate passing resolutions demanding that Tufts 'acknowledge the Palestinian genocide' and divest from companies with ties to Israel.
