US 'golden dome' back in play as 'insurance policy' decades after Reagan's Cold War-era proposal

A 'Golden Dome' defense system, similar to Israel's Iron Dome, is being proposed as a strategic defense system to protect the United States from a nuclear electromagnetic pulse (EMP) strike. Historian William Forstchen, an expert on EMPs, argues that such a system could destroy intercontinental ballistic missiles in space before they reach the US. Forstchen warns that an EMP strike could potentially kill 80-90% of Americans within a year. President Donald Trump had ordered the construction of a next-generation missile defense shield, but progress has been delayed. Forstchen urges quick action to protect the US from the threat of North Korea and Iran.
