Iran's military has called for preemptive strikes on a military base on the British-controlled Chagos Islands in an attempt to prevent the US from using it. The Chagos Islands, which are due to be handed over to Mauritius, are home to Diego Garcia military base which houses American and British assets. A senior Iranian military official has urged top commanders to launch preemptive strikes on the island and its base if Trump's threats have become more serious. The official stated that the missiles may not necessarily hit the base itself, but would act as a warning to America.
