A Tufts University doctoral student from Turkey, Rumeysa Ozturk, who was detained by immigration authorities, was moved to Vermont before a federal judge ordered authorities to keep her in Massachusetts. Ozturk's lawyers argue that her detention violates her constitutional rights and have asked the judge to order her immediate return to Massachusetts and release from custody. The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the termination of Ozturk's visa, accusing her of engaging in activities in support of Hamas, but did not provide evidence. Rallies in support of Ozturk were held in Boston and at Tufts University.
